  SHORE JUNCTION

LEST WE FORGET

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns fell silent.

The young people who have been part of the Shore Junction journey are passionate about ensuring the legacy of the Takapuna RSA building we reside in is not lost or forgotten. When the building opens in 2019, the young people of Shore Junction will remember the Takapuna Veterans and RSA members through a piece of creative art. This art piece will hang prominently in the front entrance. The art piece will be comprised of dog tags engraved with the names of fallen veterans from the Shore and hang from floor to ceiling.

As our young people in the Shore Junction youth innovation hub redefine the future, they also reflect and remember those before them, especially those who have changed the world in their own ways, often through the sacrifice of their own lives.

“This art feature will bring back the history of the building and honour the legacy of the building we reside in.”
~ Henry Pivac, Chair of YOUnite, Devonport-Takapuna Local Youth Board
